Remember that most agreements can be changed as often as necessary. Your partnership agreement can therefore evolve as your business grows. Life insurance is the most typical technique used to ensure that funds are available for cross-purchase transactions. With two partners in the same company, the solution is very simple, but requires more ingenuity to create with several shareholders. On the other hand, for share withdrawal contracts, the insurance would be written in favour of the company. One of the advantages of a buy-back agreement is that with partners able to reach an agreement, more innovative methods of problem-solving can be developed and codified.

Partnerships often continue to operate for an indeterminate period, but there are cases where a business is destined to dissolve or end after reaching a certain stage or a certain number of years.
