Thanks so much for the chapter!

It’s so… sad to watch Mame endlessly spin her wheels over Souta. But for some reason it also feels kind of nostalgic as well – that naive inclination that with persistence and loyalty and hard work can get you anywhere you want to go – I don’t know whether I want to see her wake up or not.

Ah, and the longer we go without being properly introduced to the younger brother’s fiance, the more suspicious I get.

Haha, yeah, she really doesn’t make much progress. I saw some comments on batoto where people were just really annoyed with it, but I also feel like, well, that’s kind of how Shimura Takako’s manga always goes. XD She is definitely not a fast-paced writer.

I don’t know where the story will end up, since it’s still being serialized (and I’m not sure how I want it to end up, either, because part of me does want Souta to come around, but I also kind of want her to get over him), but although it’s still slow paced throughout, Mame does start making some changes soon.

Really, people want the pace to start picking up already? I only meant it’s a bit sad because this kind of emotionally mulling over things you’ve long since reached a conclusion on is so familiar.
On the other hand… I’m of the opinion that Takako’s longer works often end up meandering uncomfortably. It’s not so much a pacing problem, as a lack of clear direction, but I can see how one might seem indicative of the other.

Unlike Gunjou, you did read ahead on this one then, lol.
I think I’d prefer Souta not come around about dating Mame, personally, but I’d like them to reach a better kind of reconciliation, especially since Yu’s involved. I’m curious about what’s prompting her stake in Mame as stepmom.

Er, thanks again. For indulging my comments too.

Yes, I’ve read vol. 2 and have vol. 3 but haven’t read it yet (though I will soon). I actually did skim read vol. 3 of Gunjo the other day now, so I know how it ends!

It seems to me like Yu’s thinking is pretty simple. She likes Mame and rather than risk an unknown as a stepmom, she’ll go with someone she already knows and likes. Souta’s not ready to marry someone new now, but if she waits around until he is, he might choose someone horrible, so better to get Mame in there before anyone else has a chance, that kind of thing. (The fact that Mame actually is in love with Souta seems pretty incidental to Yu’s perspective.)

Awesome! I won’t ask for spoilers.

Re: Yu. In my experience young children of single parents are less ‘I want *this* person to be my stepmom’ and more ‘stop paying attention to potential stepmom. only enough attention for me!!’ (Then again, Mame is maybe unlikely to be a serious competitor for Souta’s attention.) But insofar as Yu might consider her dad’s remarriage an inevitability, your logic seems A+ to me.
