Oremono update

Another group has released all of volume two now, so Kidu and I decided that as much as we love this series, we're going to end our release with volume one. Neither of us have any desire to duplicate others' work or to feel like we're in competition to release something, so yesterday's chapter will be our last. Hopefully this other group will be able to bring you more consistent updates.

On the one hand, I'm bummed out because I was really excited about working on Oremono again and hopeful that this time we could be better about getting chapters out, but there are so many other untranslated manga out there that I'm just going to look at it as an opportunity to find something else just as awesome.

To that end, while we haven't settled on a new project yet, we are still looking for cleaners and typesetters to help out. (And I'm personally still looking for someone to help out with Tera Girl.)

Anyway, thanks to everyone who encouraged us with this project. Sorry we weren't able to see it through. ♥

The state of things

I've had a lot of people comment and email asking about Himegoto and Ore Monogatari, so I figured I might as well make a post. I know it's been a long time, but we have not dropped either of these series. The next chapter of OreMono is almost ready to post, and I have two chapters of Himegoto translated that just need to be edited. Hopefully I'll be able to post new chapters of both series in August.

In addition, we have started a new series as well, which I'm going to leave as a surprise until it's read to post. Plus the next chapter of Yasha is almost done, so I will be posting that maybe this weekend, but before the end of July for sure.

Also, while I really like the level of control that comes with doing everything myself, it does make things slower, so I'm putting out a call. If you would like to work with me on either Yasha or A Child's Child, please email me at kyuuketsukirui@gmail.com. For both these series I am working from raws found on the internet, that are in pretty good shape already, so there is not a lot of cleaning involved. Mainly you would just be doing typesetting. When I'm doing all the work myself, I aim for a chapter every other month of each series. If I were working with someone else, I would like to post at least one chapter a month each of Yasha and A Child's Child. If you have experience doing typesetting for another group or on your own, that's great. If not, that's fine, too (though I would want to give you a couple test pages to see what you can do). Anyway, please drop me a line if you're interested!

Himegoto ch. 8 + announcement

I know I said once before that I wasn't going to continue summarising 7 Seeds and then I did, but this time it's for real. The scanlations are pretty much caught up and I only ever started writing the summaries to tide people over until we got to that point. I really enjoyed writing them and discussing the manga with everyone and I'll miss that for sure, but I'm glad to have one less project to keep track of. If you're following Tsukihana's scanlations, I'm sure I'll see you around there. :)

Updatiness

Wow, it's nearly mid-September and I haven't had an update in over a month. Work has kept me busy and there just never seems to be time. I am working on stuff, though! The next chapter of A Child's Child, raw scans of Tegami Bachi 12, a summary of the final volume of Ryuu no Hanawazurai/Two Flowers for the Dragon (done on commission; I'd never heard of this series before, but it turned out to be really enjoyable, and unfortunately its official English release was cancelled before the last volume could be published), and summaries of volumes 16 and 20 of 7 Seeds are all in progress. Hopefully I'll have one or more of those to post before September is through.

In the meantime, I've updated my collaborations page with two new projects I've been working on with Kotonoha, A Girl by the Sea and Sadness of the Heart, both of which are pretty neat, so you should check them out.

Upcoming stuff + plea for donations

I should have raws of Clover vol. 22 sometime in the next couple days, and the next chapter of Yasha maybe next week (I've got the translation done and the raws cleaned, just need to add the text). That will finish up vol. 1 of Yasha, which means there's still a long road ahead on that one (12 vols. total), but it's still a milestone for me (my first full volume scanlated entirely by me). I've also got another Fruits Basket doujinshi coming up in November (the last of three I'm doing for a friend) and once I get this Yasha chapter done, I plan to work on the next two chapters of A Child's Child.

So that's what's going on there. Now, I'd also like to ask you to please consider donating to help me keep this site (and my lyrics site) running. I just got the bill for my hosting plan and need to come up with $190 ASAP. Every little bit helps, even if it's only $5 or $10.

State of things

Hey, guys, I know I haven't updated forever. I've been super busy, but I am working on the next chapter of Saint Young Men and hope to have that up later this week or (more likely) next week.

In the meantime, I've been working with several other groups.

For Kotonoha, I translated a josei manga called Pumpkin and Mayonnaise and a seinen manga called Kaikisen. I've also been doing a bunch of seinen one-shots by Asano Inio for them (links can be found in the sidebar of their main page) and will be starting a new series this week.

I've also joined Dokukinoko to revive the scanlation of IS, a josei series about intersexuality. The first eight volumes were scanned by someone else, but then the series was abandoned and Dokukinoko just recently picked it up. They did the first two chapters of volume nine with another translator, but I'll be doing the translations starting with chapter 38 (which I've translated, but has not yet been published).

I also do a lot of Jump stuff with Franky House (One Piece) and Sleepy Fans (Naruto, Bleach, and Bakuman). I'm going to be doing Psyren as well, though I don't think any chapters that I've worked on have yet been published.

So that's what's going on here. Again, sorry for the delay. Once I've got chapter 7 of Saint Young Men done, I hope to have another chapter each of Yasha and A Child's Child done before the end of the year as well.

Collaboration announcement

I was recently approached by Kotonoha to do some translations for them and I said yes!

My first project is Pumpkin and Mayonnaise by Nananan Kiriko, a ladies (josei) slice-of-life short. The first four chapters were translated by someone else, but I'm picking it up from chapter five onwards (there are ten chapters total). Chapter five is available now on Kotonoha's site and I think the plan is for a weekly release.

This is not the first time I've done scripts for other scanlators, and I'm thinking of putting together a page with links to where you can find my stuff, so expect that sometime in the near future.

And speaking of the near future, I'm almost finished with Yasha chapter 2. I know it's been ages, but it's not abandoned! I should have it done by the end of the week, if not sooner.
